Our City Forest: DIY Lawn Conversion Workshop

Join us for a workshop and shrub tour where we will teach you how to convert your lawn into a drought-tolerant garden!

About this event

In this workshop, we will discuss the Valley Water Landscape rebate program, how to choose plants for your yard, and the steps to converting a lawn. Additionally, we will host a shrub ID tour with our plants around the nursery. This workshop will provide you with resources to start your own lawn conversion.

So Why do a Lawn Conversion?: What we do is more than just doing landscaping work. What we do helps change the infrastructure of the yard to help homeowners save water that would otherwise be wasted on grass lawns, have better rain water retention, watershed and soil regeneration, and provide food and habitat to the local wildlife such as birds, bees, and butterflies.

***All first-time attendees must submit a Volunteer Waiver & Release form

***Even if you have volunteered in the past, you must fill out the 2024 waiver if you have not already.

Earn 50% off your next purchase of shrubs and perennials at our Community Nursery upon completion of the workshop.

This workshop is intended for adults and homeowners looking to convert their own lawns; we kindly ask any high school volunteers to please find a different Our City Forest volunteer event to attend. Thank you!
