The Master Gardeners are planning many fun and informative activities for Native Plant and Pollinator Day that you are welcome to join in:
At the Park's Event Center:
We will have a information table for visitors to learn about the garden resources offered by the UC Master Gardeners and answer garden questions.
There will be a fun children's pollinator bookmark-making activity with information about various pollinators.
We will give Guided Walks from the Visitor’s Center to the Master Gardener’s Parcel at 9:15 am, 9:45 am, 10:15 am, and 10:45 am.
At the Master Gardener’s Parcel we will have many activities and displays from 9 am–noon:
Master Gardener Ann Finney will give a talk on "Bee Gardening 101 & Making Your Own Bee House" from 10–11 am, with a question and answer session afterwards.
We will have bumble bee and cavity-nesting bee boxes on display, along with an example of where ground-dwelling bees might nest!
There will be a “Bee Drinking Fountain” and a “Butterfly Watering Hole” display.
There will be signs identifying “UC Bee Haven Suggested Plants” in our gardens.
Common Native Plants will have signs showing the pollinators that they attract.
There will be a creative rock painting activity for artists of all ages! See sample painted rocks at our event booth at the Visitor Center and in our parcel!
There will be pictures of different pollinators on display.
Go on a scavenger hunt! Win native seed packets!
Kindergarten–4th grade children can learn about leaf-cutter bees and construct a model of their nest!
There will be a free Raffle of Cavity-nesting Bee Houses at 11:00 am and Noon!
