Citrus are wonderful additions to any garden, but not every garden has an ideal location for a Citrus tree. Sometimes soggy clay soil, a winter frost problem, or the lack of a yard make in-ground planting impossible. However, many citruses can be successfully grown in containers which provides a solution to all of these problems.
Join Elizabeth Evans for a discussion on growing citrus in containers, covering variety selection, container sizing, soil and fertilizing, watering, frost protection, and light requirements. In addition, she will demonstrate how to up-pot citrus into a planter suitable for patio growing.
Participants should wear closed-toed shoes, layered clothing, and a hat, as the class is held outdoors in our Pavilion. A refillable water bottle, notebook and writing implements are recommended. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to park and sign in.
Please note: the park charges $6.00 for parking, or you can park on Chynoweth Avenue near Vauxhall Circle for free.
