Selecting Heirloom Fruit Trees for the Home Garden - San Jose

  • 5283 Snell Avenue San Jose, CA, 95136 United States (map)

Please join us for a special discussion about growing rare fruits in the home garden. Our guest speaker, a world-renowned fruit historian/orchardist (and Registrar for the California Rare Fruit Growers), will talk about growing and maintaining rare fruits such as mulberries, pomegranates, guava, sapote, and others that offer delicious and unique taste treats often too delicate for commercial growers. He will also demonstrate pruning bare-root fruit trees in our one-year-old orchard.

Participants should wear closed-toed shoes, layered clothing, and a hat, as the class is held outdoors in our Pavilion and Orchard. A refillable water bottle, notebook and writing implements are recommended. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to park and sign in.

Note: the park charges $6.00 for parking, or you can park on Chynoweth Avenue near Vauxhall Circle for free.
